As part of its efforts to transform into a smart city, Hà Nội has expanded its multi-modal electronic ticket system, now covering 38 bus routes under a pilot program. Nguyễn Phi Thường, Director of the Hà Nội Department of Transport, emphasized that electronic bus tickets represent a pivotal solution, offering substantial benefits for the city and its public transport users.
The program, which initially featured only 10 electric bus routes, now includes 28 regular routes and a Bus Rapid Transit (BRT) line. It underscores the city’s commitment to modernizing its public transportation network. Passengers can buy chip cards and online tickets via the website, mobile applications, or ticket counters. The system supports various non-cash payment methods, including bank cards, e-wallets, and QR codes.
“The multi-modal electronic ticket system, aside from simplifying ticket sales and verification, also fulfills management and operational needs across the network. It establishes a flexible fare system to encourage broader public service use,” Thường remarked.
This pilot program is a crucial step toward building a unified ticketing system across Hà Nội, ensuring seamless travel options for residents and visitors. As Vietnam continues to modernize its public transportation infrastructure, the pilot program is laying the groundwork for an efficient, interconnected system that promises convenience and affordability. Vietnam already has a very strong bus connectivity and ease of bus booking. You can either book your bus tickets from ticketing counters or purchase your Vietnam bus tickets from one city to another via online portals.
