Ha Long Bay, a popular tourist destination in Vietnam, may soon have new sightseeing fees for visitors. The Ha Long Bay Management Board has proposed a fee structure for three new tour routes, alongside a general Ha Long Bay tour and a coastal cruise option.

New Fees for Different Tours in Ha Long Bay

The proposal includes new fee slabs for the following routes :

  • Ha Long Bay – Gia Luan tour: This route, ranging from Ha Long Bay to Gia Luan in Lan Ha Bay, would have fees between 75,000 VND and 150,000 VND.
  • General Ha Long Bay tour: Covering all five existing day-tour routes, this tour would cost between 300,000 VND and 600,000 VND for a 12-hour journey. The 600,000 VND option would be for a half-day tour visiting all five routes.
  • Coastal Ha Long Bay tour: This shorter cruise would start from Tuan Chau International Cruise Port or Ha Long International Cruise Port and end at Nam Cau Trang Port. The fee would range from 50,000 VND to 100,000 VND.

Public Feedback and Previous Price Increases

The Ha Long Bay Management Board is currently gathering feedback from relevant parties on the proposed fees. They aim to finalize the plan and submit it to the provincial People’s Committee by July 2024.

It’s important to note that this proposal comes after recent price increases implemented in April 2024 by Tuan Chau International Cruise Port and Ha Long International Cruise Port. These increases affected passenger tickets, mooring fees, and service fees for boats.

Impact of Fee Hike on Tourists

The proposed sightseeing fees, alongside the previous port price hikes, could affect the overall cost of visiting Ha Long Bay for tourists. While the new structure offers more options for different budgets and interests, it’s important to wait for the final fee details and how they might impact different tour packages.
